Next Step Assessments offers professional, evidence‑informed assessments designed to provide clear understanding and practical support for learning differences. We work with children, young people, and adults who want greater clarity about their learning profile, whether for education, work, or personal reasons.

Our assessments are thorough, individualised, and strengths‑focused, providing clear insight alongside meaningful recommendations that can be used confidently in everyday life. All work is carried out by highly qualified specialists, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and a supportive experience from start to finish.

Our service is designed to feel clear, supportive, and accessible at every stage. We understand that seeking an assessment is often about finding answers and reassurance, which is why we take time to explain outcomes clearly and focus on practical recommendations that can be used immediately.

Whether you are a parent, an adult seeking clarity, or supporting a young person with their learning, our aim is to provide insight that leads to confidence, understanding, and meaningful progress.

Step 1: Background Information Form

Before the assessment, we ask you to complete a detailed but straightforward form about the individual being assessed.

This form helps us understand:

  • Educational or work background

  • Current concerns and difficulties

  • Strengths and areas of confidence

  • Any previous support or assessments

The information you provide allows us to tailor the assessment to the individual and ensures that the time spent together is focused and meaningful.

Step 2: The Assessment

The assessment itself is carried out by a qualified specialist in a calm, supportive environment. It is structured but flexible, and paced to suit the individual.

During the assessment, we explore areas such as:

  • Reading and literacy skills

  • Writing and spelling

  • Memory and processing

  • Learning strengths and challenges

There are no pass or fail outcomes. The aim is to understand how the individual learns best.

Step 3: The Assessment Report

Following the assessment, a written report is provided. For a Core Assessment, the report offers a clear overview of strengths and areas of difficulty, with practical recommendations for support.

A Full Dyslexia Assessment report provides a more detailed evaluation and includes a formal conclusion regarding dyslexia, along with indivisualised, comprehensive, evidence‑based recommendations suitable for education and workplace settings. We are happy to advise on which report is most appropriate for your needs.
